Countless reasons to thank the God of heaven

Psalms Bible Background

08.28.2016 Old Testament: Psa 136.26

To read the Bible in a year, read Psalm 136–138 on August 28, In the year of our Lord 2016

By Don Ruhl

Psalm 136 begins with an exhortation to give thanks to the Lord, and the psalmist proceeded to give twenty-five reasons for thanking God. When the psalmist concluded His psalm, he ended saying,

Oh, give thanks to the God of heaven!
For His mercy endures forever.
(Psalm 136.26)

Do you think there are only twenty-five reasons for thanking God? I don’t think so. Don’t you think that if you sat down, took out a piece of paper, and started writing, that it might be awhile before you stopped?
