Words have amazing power. Just think of the “word” of God. Does it have any power to you? Deceptive words can also prove powerful, if we do not realize that someone is using them on us,

With her enticing speech she caused him to yield,
With her flattering lips she seduced him.
Immediately he went after her, as an ox goes to the slaughter,
Or as a fool to the correction of the stocks,
Till an arrow struck his liver.
As a bird hastens to the snare,
He did not know it would cost his life.
(Proverbs 7.21–23)

He listened to the adulteress speak to him, and he fell for everything that she said, and he had no idea of the consequences.

Learn to listen carefully without being overly suspicious.

Questions:

  • Has someone ever led you astray by their words?
  • What made you finally aware of what had happened?
