Jesus became a curse that we might be blessed

God promised Abraham that in him, God would bless all the families of the Earth (Genesis 12.3). He fulfilled that promise in the death of Jesus,

Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith (Galatians 3.13–14).

We earn the wages of death when we sin. However, God created us, and we are His children, leading Him to seek our good. He wants to bless everyone, but He has to remove the curse of death before we can experience the full blessings of the God of heaven. Upon the cross, Jesus removed that curse and that opened the way for the Lord to bless us.

Questions:

  • Do you have faith in God to save you from the curse?
  • Will your faith move you to do anything that God says, or will you argue with Him about it?
