09.26.2016 Old Testament: Isa 7.15–17
To read the Bible in a year, read Isaiah 7–9 on September 26, In the year of our Lord 2016
By Don Ruhl
The Lord gave the house of David a sign, that a virgin would give birth to a Son, whose name would be Immanuel, or God-with-us. Then Isaiah continued the prophecy to let the people know that Assyria would conquer Israel, and sometime after that the Messiah would come,
“Curds and honey He shall eat, that He may know to refuse the evil and choose the good. For before the Child shall know to refuse the evil and choose the good, the land that you dread will be forsaken by both her kings. The Lord will bring the king of Assyria upon you and your people and your father’s house—days that have not come since the day that Ephraim departed from Judah” (Isaiah 7.15–17)
It happened centuries after Assyrian took Israel into captivity, but the Lord kept His word, and He will keep all His promises to us.
