10.10.2016 – Old Testament: Isa 43.17
To read the Bible in a year, read Isaiah 43–44 on October 10, In the year of our Lord 2016
By Don Ruhl
Judah was mighty and powerful, because the Lord of Heaven and Earth fought for them, but when they did not abide by His righteousness, He could take any power of the Earth and use it against His own people, or He could take those conquering armies and extinguish them,
Who brings forth the chariot and horse,
The army and the power
(They shall lie down together, they shall not rise;
They are extinguished, they are quenched like a wick)…
This is part of an introduction of who the Lord is, and what He would do for Judah, that although He called for the Babylonians to come and punish Judah, the Lord would eventually silence Babylon, and do new and wonderful things for His people.
- Have you seen nations fall that you never expected to fall?
- Is it possible that a nation could become so powerful that it could never fall?
