11.11.2016 – Old Testament: Lam 3.25–27
To read the Bible in a year, read Lamentations 3–5 on November 11, In the year of our Lord 2016
By Don Ruhl
What do you do when life gets rough, and it seems as though you have lost everything? That was the plight of Jerusalem, as Jeremiah lamented of the blessed city’s demise at the hands of the Babylonians, but because of Jerusalem’s own sins,
The LORD is good to those who wait for Him,
To the soul who seeks Him.
It is good that one should hope and wait quietly
For the salvation of the LORD.
It is good for a man to bear
The yoke in his youth.
(Lamentations 3.25–27)
Wait for the Lord and see what happens. You will see His goodness. However, waiting does not necessarily mean waiting a day, for the Lord does not follow our schedules. Therefore, wait and hope quietly in Him, working with your might in the meantime.
Questions:
- What good from the Lord have you seen in your lifetime?
- If waiting is hard for you, does this passage give you reason to concentrate on waiting?
