The Lord punishes the punisher

To read the Bible in a year, read Ezekiel 29–31 on November 23, In the year of our Lord 2016

By Don Ruhl

The Lord used Egypt for various reasons, including punishing His own people, and that of other people on the Earth. However, Egypt had its own sins, and in time, the Lord also punished Egypt,

“Thus says the Lord GOD:
I will also make a multitude of Egypt to cease
By the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon.
He and his people with him, the most terrible of the nations,
Shall be brought to destroy the land;
They shall draw their swords against Egypt,
And fill the land with the slain.
I will make the rivers dry,
And sell the land into the hand of the wicked;
I will make the land waste, and all that is in it,
By the hand of aliens.
I, the LORD, have spoken.”
(Ezekiel 30.10–12)

The Lord never wants to use harsh actions against anyone, but if they will not turn, if they will not respond to anything else that He does, He will do what He has to do either to get their attention, or finally to remove them. Therefore, He humiliated Egypt greatly, and the nation has never been the same since.

  • What does the Lord have to do to get your attention?
  • Have you turned from your sin?
