02.09.2017 – Old Testament: Lev 8.1–5
To read the Bible in a year, read Leviticus 7–9 on February 9, In the year of our Lord 2017
By Don Ruhl
When the Lord consecrated Aaron and his sons as high priests, the congregation witnessed something special,
And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying: “Take Aaron and his sons with him, and the garments, the anointing oil, a bull as the sin offering, two rams, and a basket of unleavened bread; and gather all the congregation together at the door of the tabernacle of meeting.” So Moses did as the LORD commanded him. And the congregation was gathered together at the door of the tabernacle of meeting. And Moses said to the congregation, “This is what the LORD commanded to be done” (Leviticus 8.1–5).
What a special moment for a people who only months before had been slaves. This action showed the necessity of a priest between man and God, later fulfilled in the Lord Jesus Christ, and the congregation also watched Him do His priestly work, although they did not realize it.
