04.02.2017 – Old Testament: Jdg 8.22–23
To read the Bible in a year, read Judges 8–9 on April 2, In the year of our Lord 2017
By Don Ruhl
After Gideon’s victories over the Midianites, the children of Israel would do anything for him, including offering to let him rule over them, but he rejected it,
Then the men of Israel said to Gideon, “Rule over us, both you and your son, and your grandson also; for you have delivered us from the hand of Midian.” But Gideon said to them, “I will not rule over you, nor shall my son rule over you; the LORD shall rule over you” (Judges 8.22–23).
He knew Israel’s true ruler, and he did not wish for it to change. Therefore, he took glory away from himself and gave it to God.
- How do you glorify God?
- Do you have a heart for God?
