04.09.2017 – Old Testament: 1Sa 2.8–10
To read the Bible in a year, read First Samuel 1–3 on April 9, In the year of our Lord 2017

It is interesting to hear people, Christians included, comment on the Bible’s view of women, especially in the Old Testament, but read carefully the words of Hannah after God had answered her prayer for a son and she gave that son to God, for what she said and the manner in which she communicated it, show that she was well-educated in the knowledge of God and that she knew how to present truth,
He raises the poor from the dust
And lifts the beggar from the ash heap,
To set them among princes
And make them inherit the throne of glory.
For the pillars of the earth are the LORD’S,
And He has set the world upon them.
He will guard the feet of His saints,
But the wicked shall be silent in darkness.
For by strength no man shall prevail.
The adversaries of the LORD shall be broken in pieces;
From heaven He will thunder against them.
The LORD will judge the ends of the earth.
He will give strength to His king,
And exalt the horn of His anointed.
(1 Samuel 2:8–10)
Now see whether your view of the Bible on women is truly the Bible’s view on women, or have you merely parroted what others have said.
Hannah knew that the Lord owns the Earth, enabling Him to do whatever He pleases with the people of the Earth.
- Do you honor women as the Bible does?
- Do you think Hannah was ignorant or well-informed?
