06.15.2017 Old Testament: Ezra 10.1
To read the Bible in a year, read Ezra 9–10 on June 15, In the year of our Lord 2017
By Don Ruhl
After reading Ezra’s magnificent prayer in chapter 9, you will then read this further description of his manner of praying,
Now while Ezra was praying, and while he was confessing, weeping, and bowing down before the house of God, a very large assembly of men, women, and children gathered to him from Israel; for the people wept very bitterly (Ezra 10.1).
When you read the prayer of chapter 9, keep in mind what you read in 10.1. The nature of his prayer was confession of sin, and his emotional state was that of weeping, and his spiritual condition was that of bowing down before the house of God.
Questions:
- When you pray, how much of your self do you put into the prayer?
- Why do you think Ezra so involved himself in this prayer?
