Job Bible Background

06.30.2017 – Old Testament: Job 19.23–24

To read the Bible in a year, read Job 19–20 on June 30, In the year of our Lord 2017

By Don Ruhl

Poor Job cried out as he suffered, wanting help from God and from his friends, but it did not come. Therefore, he wished,

“Oh, that my words were written!
Oh, that they were inscribed in a book!
That they were engraved on a rock
With an iron pen and lead, forever!”
(Job 19.23–24)

The God of heaven heard the suffering man, and gave the world a Book with Job’s words written therein as though engraved on a rock, for they shall never go away.
