07.08.2017 Old Testament: Job 38.16–18
To read the Bible in a year, read Job 38–39 on July 8, In the year of our Lord 2017
By Don Ruhl
Job believed that he had not done anything wrong, but he questioned the actions of God, believing that God had not dealt justly with him. Then God appeared to Job. Since Job thought he knew how God should operate, God had questions for Job,
“Have you entered the springs of the sea?
Or have you walked in search of the depths?
Have the gates of death been revealed to you?
Or have you seen the doors of the shadow of death?
Have you comprehended the breadth of the earth?
Tell Me, if you know all this.”
If Job could answer in the affirmative, then he might be able to tell God what to do; otherwise, Job needed to put his hand over his mouth and listen to God.
