The heart-searcher

Romans Bible Background

08.08.2017 – New Testament: Rom 8.27

To read the Bible in a year, read Romans 8.19–39 on August 8, In the year of our Lord 2017

We do our best to pray, but we are mere creatures trying to speak to the Creator. Undoubtedly, we fall short in those prayers, but the Bible also assures us that we have help,

Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God (Romans 8.27).

The Spirit searches our hearts and knows what we wish to say to God. We speak those desires to Him, but the Spirit helps and intercedes for us. Praise the Lord!

Questions:

  • How often do you pray?
  • Are your prayers only about what you want?

    • I do not know that I know all the ways in which we can fall short in our prayers, but just addressing the Creator, undoubtedly we do not know the appropriate protocol. The previous verse to the one that I used for this devotional stated, “Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered” (Rom 8.26). Thanks for the suggestion, ThinkingChamber
