08.09.2017 – Old Testament: Psa 86.8–10
To read the Bible in a year, read Psalms 85–87 on August 9, In the year of our Lord 2017
By Don Ruhl
Do you know how to praise God in prayer? I have discovered that most people use prayer merely for getting things from God, and that might be because they do not know how to praise Him. Listen to the psalmist praise God,
Among the gods there is none like You, O Lord;
Nor are there any works like Your works.
All nations whom You have made
Shall come and worship before You, O Lord,
And shall glorify Your name.
For You are great, and do wondrous things;
You alone are God.
(Psalm 86.8–10)
Simply say to God what the psalmist said to Him. Look at that second line, “Nor are there any works like Your works.” Speak to Him of specific things that you have in mind and praise Him for the magnificent things He has done, as revealed in the Scriptures, in the world, and in your life.
Questions:
- How often do you praise God without asking for anything?
- How has God affected your life?
