08.16.2017 – Old Testament: Psa 105.37–41
To read the Bible in a year, read Psalms 105–106 on August 16, In the year of our Lord 2017
By Don Ruhl
Israel complained often while they traveled from Egypt to the Land of Canaan, but the writer of Psalm 105 listed some of the ways that the Lord provided for Israel in the wilderness in spite of their complaining,
He also brought them out with silver and gold,
And there was none feeble among His tribes.
Egypt was glad when they departed,
For the fear of them had fallen upon them.
He spread a cloud for a covering,
And fire to give light in the night.
The people asked, and He brought quail,
And satisfied them with the bread of heaven.
He opened the rock, and water gushed out;
It ran in the dry places like a river.
He gave them precious metals, strength, an enemy happy to see them go, protection and guidance by a pillar of a cloud and of fire, food, and water. Yet, to them, it was not good enough.
Sometimes Christians complain about the same things, and we will also suffer if we do as Israel did.
- Are you grateful for all that you have?
- Would others describe you as a complainer?
