If only people would thank God

Psalms Bible Background

08.17.2017 – Old Testament: Psa 107.31–32

To read the Bible in a year, read Psalms 107–108 on August 17, In the year of our Lord 2017

By Don Ruhl

God blesses and blesses, and blesses again. How does the world react to His endless giving? They act as though God had nothing to do with it. The psalmist saw that attitude and longed for people to thank God,

Oh, that men would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness,
And for His wonderful works to the children of men!
Let them exalt Him also in the assembly of the people,
And praise Him in the company of the elders.
(Psalm 107.31–32)

People just go about their not giving a second thought to how all the good things of this earth got here. If only they would recognize the providence of God, it would change their outlook and they would give God thanks.

Questions:

  • From where do people think all the good things of earth came?
  • How do you think everything got here?
