Isaiah 23 pronounces the doom of Tyre, which was on the coast of the land of Palestine. Ships from the West Coast of Spain travelled to Tyre to load the riches of Tyre and transport them to the far reaches of Europe, enriching both the city of Tyre and the shipping businesses of Tarshish. However, when Tyre would fall, Isaiah said this about the ships of Tarshish,

Wail, you ships of Tarshish!
For your strength is laid waste.
(Isaiah 23.14)

Tarshish grew strong and powerful because of the strength and power of Tyre. Therefore, wipe out the city of Tyre and what happens to Tarshish?
