10.17.2017 – Old Testament: Isa 63.8–9
To read the Bible in a year, read Isaiah 62–64 on October 17, In the year of our Lord 2017
By Don Ruhl
Isaiah said that he would mention the lovingkindnesses and praises of the Lord, speaking of His great goodness toward Israel and of the Lord’s mercies. Then the prophet declared those things,
For He said, “Surely they are My people,
Children who will not lie.”
So He became their Savior.
In all their affliction He was afflicted,
And the Angel of His Presence saved them;
In His love and in His pity He redeemed them;
And He bore them and carried them
All the days of old.
This paints a wonderful picture of God. He thinks of His people, that since they are His people, they will not lie. Therefore, He decided to save them, feeling their affliction Himself, having pity on them, and carrying them along.
Undoubtedly the Lord thinks that way toward Christians. Do we disappoint Him or do we continue to act as He expects us to act?
- Do you seek to walk in righteousness?
- Do you know of the Lord’s great love toward you?
