10.18.2017 – Old Testament: Isa 66.3–4
To read the Bible in a year, read Isaiah 65–66 on October 18, In the year of our Lord 2017
By Don Ruhl
The world thinks that following the Lord and His teachings is merely optional and that you will not suffer consequences for choosing your own ways over His ways,
“He who kills a bull is as if he slays a man;
He who sacrifices a lamb, as if he breaks a dog’s neck;
He who offers a grain offering, as if he offers swine’s blood;
He who burns incense, as if he blesses an idol.
Just as they have chosen their own ways,
And their soul delights in their abominations,
So will I choose their delusions,
And bring their fears on them;
Because, when I called, no one answered,
When I spoke they did not hear;
But they did evil before My eyes,
And chose that in which I do not delight.”
When we choose our own ways, the Lord will not accept our worship, as shown in the first four lines of the quote from Isaiah. Then the Lord says that He will choose the delusions for those who walk in their own ways, failing to listen to Him and doing evil in His sight. He will let those people believe that they are doing the right thing.
- Whose ways have you chosen to follow in life?
- Do you listen to the Lord and do what pleases Him?
