The question most people fail to ask

Jeremiah Bible Background

10.19.2017 – Old Testament: Jer 2.6–8

To read the Bible in a year, read Jeremiah 1–2 on October 19, In the year of our Lord 2017

By Don Ruhl

The Lord asked the house of Israel what injustice had they found in Him that they had turned their backs on Him. Then He asked why they had not asked where He was,

“Neither did they say, ‘Where is the LORD,
Who brought us up out of the land of Egypt,
Who led us through the wilderness,
Through a land of deserts and pits,
Through a land of drought and the shadow of death,
Through a land that no one crossed
And where no one dwelt?’
I brought you into a bountiful country,
To eat its fruit and its goodness.
But when you entered, you defiled My land
And made My heritage an abomination.
The priests did not say, ‘Where is the LORD?’
And those who handle the law did not know Me;
The rulers also transgressed against Me;
The prophets prophesied by Baal,
And walked after things that do not profit.”
(Jeremiah 2.6–8)

They had forgotten what the Lord had done for them and so they did not think to ask where He was!

Questions:
