How to wage the good warfare

1 Timothy Bible Background

10.21.2017 – New Testament: 1Ti 1.18

To read the Bible in a year, read First Timothy 1 on October 21, In the year of our Lord 2017

Christianity is not a life on vacation, but it is war. We fight the spiritual battle against Satan and his angels. However, we have to fight the Lord’s way. Paul told Timothy,

This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you may wage the good warfare… (1 Timothy 1.18).

Evidently, Paul or someone made some prophecies in regard to Timothy, and by those prophecies, he could fight the good warfare. The principle is the same, we must use the prophecies or all that the Lord has spoken (Revealed in Scripture), to fight our adversary the devil.

Questions:

  • Do you know the Scriptures better today than you did five years ago?
  • Where are you weak in your biblical knowledge?
