10.25.2017 – Old Testament: Jer 15.5–9
To read the Bible in a year, read Jeremiah 14–16 on October 25, In the year of our Lord 2017
By Don Ruhl
The Lord said that He would appoint four kinds of punishment upon Jerusalem and that He would give the city over to trouble in other kingdoms. He said further,
“For who will have pity on you, O Jerusalem?
Or who will bemoan you?
Or who will turn aside to ask how you are doing?
You have forsaken Me,” says the LORD,
“You have gone backward.
Therefore I will stretch out My hand against you and destroy you…”
(Jeremiah 15.5–9)
Jerusalem could have been something so wonderful, and it still was in many ways, yet, it was the city that persecuted those whom the Lord sent. They would suffer the consequences.
However, is Jerusalem the only city that sinned against the Lord? No, for the Scriptures mention others and cities today shall also suffer, if they do not turn to the Lord.
Questions:
- What can you do to help your city spiritually?
- How long have you lived in your present city?
