11.30.2017 – New Testament: 2Pe 2.20
To read the Bible in a year, read Second Peter 2 on November 30, In the year of our Lord 2017
By Don Ruhl
Peter warned of false teachers, people who once escaped the corruption of the world, but then they went back to it and sought to bring others with them. Peter said of them,
For if, after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning (2 Peter 2.20).
The apostle spoke of someone falling away because it is possible to fall away, although many churches do not believe it is possible.
Here the Bible let us know that when a person goes back to that from which he came, he is now in a worse state because he knows the truth and has chosen to reject it.
- Have you ever fallen away?
- Are you still entangled in the world?
- Do you know what to do to find freedom from the world?
