12.16.2017 – New Testament: Rev 7.2–3
To read the Bible in a year, read Revelation 7 on December 16, In the year of our Lord 2017
By Don Ruhl
John saw Jesus open the first six seals on the scroll that Jesus had taken from the Father as He sat on His throne. Between the opening of the sixth and seventh seals an interlude occurs, and John said,
Then I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God. And he cried with a loud voice to the four angels to whom it was granted to harm the earth and the sea, saying, “Do not harm the earth, the sea, or the trees till we have sealed the servants of our God on their foreheads” (Revelation 7.2–3).
An angel told other angels to spare the earth until the servants of God had His seal on their foreheads, for in having the seal they would not suffer what would come upon the earth. Sometimes the children of God suffer and sometimes He spares them from suffering. That is how it is in life, sometimes one person suffers, but another does not. God has a plan for His servants and as His servants, and we willingly go through what He has in store for us.
Questions:
- Are you ready to suffer for the Lord?
- What does it mean to you that you are a servant of God?
