How many people?

Matthew Bible Background

01.22.2018 – New Testament: Matt 15.38

To read the Bible in a year, read Matthew 15.21–39 on January 22, In the year of our Lord 2018

By Don Ruhl

Jesus fed a huge crowd with seven loaves of bread and a few fish. Yet, that should not surprise us; after all, He created the earth with all the ingredients that we need for making bread and for fish to grow. After the feeding, Matthew gave us a rough idea of how many people Jesus fed with that small amount,

Now those who ate were four thousand men, besides women and children (Matthew 15.38).

The four thousand men alone, would have consumed that food just by smelling it, but then add probably as many women and even more children and we can only conclude that Jesus worked a miracle, multiplying the bread and the fish.
