02.13.2018 – New Testament: Matt 27.20–22
To read the Bible in a year, read Matthew 27.1–31 on February 13, In the year of our Lord 2018
By Don Ruhl
That was the choice that Israel had to make when they appeared before Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor over Jerusalem. Pilate had asked the Jews whether they wanted him to release Barabbas or Jesus. Matthew continued,
But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitudes that they should ask for Barabbas and destroy Jesus. The governor answered and said to them, “Which of the two do you want me to release to you?” They said, “Barabbas!” Pilate said to them, “What then shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?” They all said to him, “Let Him be crucified!” (Matthew 27.20–22).
They chose freedom for Barabbas who had committed murder, but they chose death for Jesus who had given life to all men.
Questions:
- Who do you choose?
- If you choose Jesus, does it show in your manner of living?
