02.14.2018 – New Testament: Matt 27.45–46
To read the Bible in a year, read Matthew 27.32–66 on February 14, In the year of our Lord 2018
By Don Ruhl
Over 1900 years ago men conspired to carry out a killing that they did not realize would be the darkest day in history, for on that day this happened,
Now from the sixth hour until the ninth hour there was darkness over all the land. And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” that is, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” (Matthew 27.45–46).
For three hours at the brightest time of day, the sun went dark, for it could not look upon the darkness that had descended into the souls of humanity as men crucified the Creator of the sun. How can you get a darker moment than that one?
Questions:
- Why did people not see that Jesus was the Son of God?
- What do you think you would have done that day?
