Observe the Lord’s word all your life

Deuteronomy Bible Background

03.10.2018 – Old Testament: Deu 12.1

To read the Bible in a year, read Deuteronomy 11–13 on March 10, In the year of our Lord 2018

By Don Ruhl

The Lord delivered Israel from Egyptian slavery, sustained them 40 years in the wilderness, and gave them the Land of Canaan. He then wanted something from them,

“These are the statutes and judgments which you shall be careful to observe in the land which the LORD God of your fathers is giving you to possess, all the days that you live on the earth” (Deuteronomy 12.1).

He simply wanted them to observe all their lives the statutes and judgments that He gave them. Was that too much for Him to ask? No, but sometimes it seemed as though Israel thought so and they abandoned what He expected of them and went after other gods, who had not done anything for them.
