03.26.2018 – New Testament: Luke 5.8
To read the Bible in a year, read Luke 5.1–16 on March 26, In the year of our Lord 2018
By Don Ruhl
Jesus told the disciples to cast their nets into the water and they would catch fish, but Peter said they had fished all night and had not caught anything. Nevertheless, Peter continued, saying that he would do what the Lord said, showing the Lord that Peter knew there were no fish in that location.
After Peter and his fellow fishermen did so, they caught a huge amount of fish and Peter suddenly realized what he had done,
When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!” (Luke 5.8).
We may argue that Peter needed the Lord, but Peter also knew that he was not worthy to be in the Lord’s presence. Therefore, Peter humbled himself, showing that he was not worthy to have the Lord in his presence.

- Do you think that you and Peter could have been good friends?
