By Don Ruhl
Rehoboam and Judah did not stay loyal to the Lord. Therefore, He sent a huge army against them from Egypt:
And it happened in the fifth year of King Rehoboam that Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, because they had transgressed against the LORD, with twelve hundred chariots, sixty thousand horsemen, and people without number who came with him out of Egypt—the Lubim and the Sukkiim and the Ethiopians. And he took the fortified cities of Judah and came to Jerusalem (2 Chronicles 12.2–4).
See yourself in Jerusalem. You have heard of this mighty army coming out of Africa and the army has been conquering all the significant cities in your nation. Then the army turns toward Jerusalem. You look over the wall and see 1,200 chariots, 60,000 horsemen, and soldiers so numerous that you cannot put a number on it.
- Would an army that size get your attention?
- Would you be willing to listen to whatever the Lord wanted to say to you?
