What is the Lord to you?

Psalms Bible Background

07.15.2018 – Old Testament: Psa 18.2

To read the Bible in a year, read Psalms 17–18 on July 15, In the year of our Lord 2018

By Don Ruhl

You know that David loved God. Perhaps we can understand David’s deep love and devotion to God by reading what He was to David:

The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;
My God, my strength, in whom I will trust;
My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
(Psalm 18.2)

If God was David’s rock, fortress, deliverer, strength, trust, shield, salvation, and stronghold, then no wonder David said in verse 1 that he loved the Lord! Is the Lord all those things to you? If so, you will love Him automatically.

Questions:

  • What is the Lord to you? Can you add to David’s list?
  • How do you show your love to God?
