By Don Ruhl

The Lord has done more things for us than we can count. Can He count on us to do some things that He wants done? He said to Israel:

“But you have not called upon Me, O Jacob;
And you have been weary of Me, O Israel.
You have not brought Me the sheep for your burnt offerings,
Nor have you honored Me with your sacrifices.
I have not caused you to serve with grain offerings,
Nor wearied you with incense.
You have bought Me no sweet cane with money,
Nor have you satisfied Me with the fat of your sacrifices;
But you have burdened Me with your sins,
You have wearied Me with your iniquities.”
(Isaiah 43.22–24)

Israel became weary serving the Lord. There were other things that they would have rather done! Therefore, they just quit completely worshiping the Lord of heaven and earth. Sounds like many people today.

Rather than bringing sacrifices to Him, Israel burdened Him with their sins, and they wearied Him with their iniquities.

Questions:

  • Do you ever think of the Lord becoming weary with us?
  • Do you find worshiping the Lord a chore or an honor?
