10.10.2018 – New Testament: Col 2.20–22
To read the Bible in a year, read Colossians 2 on October 10, In the year of our Lord 2018
By Don Ruhl
Paul taught the Colossian church freedom in Christ, yet, someone went among them, seeking to add the teachings of man to the Good News of Jesus Christ. Therefore, Paul asked them a question:
Therefore, if you died with Christ from the basic principles of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to regulations—“Do not touch, do not taste, do not handle,” which all concern things which perish with the using—according to the commandments and doctrines of men? (Colossians 2.20–22).
It always puzzle me when anyone wants to add any of the teachings of man to the word of God. Has He left out something that we need? No, He has given us everything we need.
- Do we add anything to the word today?
- Do we need to add man’s psychology to the Scriptures?
