10.22.2018 – New Testament: 1Ti 2.7

To read the Bible in a year, read First Timothy 2 on October 22, In the year of our Lord Christ 2018

By Don Ruhl

Paul explained that we need to pray for our governmental leaders so that they will make a civil society where it will be easier to spread the truth. He explained further that Jesus is for everyone, and that He gave Himself a ransom to be testified in due time, and then said:

…for which I was appointed a preacher and an apostle—I am speaking the truth in Christ and not lying—a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth (1 Timothy 2.7).

Sometimes Paul had to preach and at other times he taught. Preaching declares the truth and teaching explains it some more. Preaching is a monologue and teaching is a dialogue, most of the time. Either way, Paul used those methods to let others know about Jesus Christ and His work.

Questions:

  • What is the goal of teaching? Is it just to get other people to talk?
  • What is the goal of preaching?
