Even prophets were troubled by their own writings

Daniel Bible Background

12.06.2018 – Old Testament: Dan 7.28

To read the Bible in a year, read Daniel 7–8 on December 6, In the year of our Lord Christ 2018

By Don Ruhl

The Lord gave Daniel a vision, but although the Lord gave the prophet understanding of visions that others had, the Lord did not always provide the interpretation for Daniel’s visions and dreams. After one such vision, here is what he said:

“This is the end of the account. As for me, Daniel, my thoughts greatly troubled me, and my countenance changed; but I kept the matter in my heart” (Daniel 7.28).

If you cannot always understand the Scriptures, do not think that you are alone, for even intelligent men like Daniel could not always understand the Scriptures, and what little he could make of this vision, troubled him, for he saw that the people of God were to suffer greatly in the future.

Questions:

  • What passages or teachings of Scripture have troubled you?
  • What did you do about it?
