Should we pay taxes?

Who likes to pay taxes? Whether we want to pay taxes or not, we have to pay taxes. Some people wanted to know whether Jesus paid the temple tax:

When they had come to Capernaum, those who received the temple tax came to Peter and said, “Does your Teacher not pay the temple tax?” (Matthew 17.24).

Since He claimed to have come from God, people wanted to know whether He paid the temple tax, since the temple was in God’s honor.

People today will want to know whether we use religion to exempt ourselves from certain duties and we should make sure that we are doing those things already.

Questions:

  • Do you pay your taxes?
  • Do you contribute financially to your home congregation every week?
