03.03.2019 – New Testament: Mark 9.49–50
To read the Bible in a year, read Mark 9.30–50 on March 3, In the year of our Lord Christ 2019
By Don Ruhl
Jesus taught us to be like salt, which will lead to peace among ourselves. Think about it: People whom you would describe as the Salt of the Earth, are they contrary people or are they people of peace?
“For everyone will be seasoned with fire, and every sacrifice will be seasoned with salt. Salt is good, but if the salt loses its flavor, how will you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace with one another” (Mark 9.49–50).
We need to be salt that we might be flavorful to the Lord and to the people around us. That does not mean that everyone will accept us, for Jesus, the ultimate Salt of the Earth, experienced rejection, but He has also created more friends than anyone ever has.
Questions:
- Would other people describe you as the Salt of the Earth?
- If not, what do you need to change?
