New Testament: John 3.16
To read the Bible in a year, read John 3.1–21 on May 10, In the year of our Lord Christ 2019

Those famous words of John 3.16 were spoken to Nicodemus, a Pharisee and member of the the Jewish Council. Listen to what Jesus said:
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
– John 3.16
Jesus told Nicodemus, a Jew of the sect of the Pharisees, that God loved the world, which meant not just Israel, and that God’s Son was for anyone who believed in Him. The Bible does not record a negative reaction of Nicodemus to those words, but later John does show Nicodemus acting favorably toward Jesus.
Not all the Pharisees were bad. Some went right to Jesus and acknowledged that He was from God, just as Nicodemus confessed (v. 2).
