05.21.2019 New Testament: John 8.14
To read the Bible in a year, read John 8.1–20 on May 21, In the year of our Lord 2019
By Don Ruhl
The Pharisees asserted that the testimony Jesus gave of Himself was not true, simply because of the fact that He testified of Himself. However, He said,
“Even if I bear witness of Myself, My witness is true, for I know where I came from and where I am going; but you do not know where I come from and where I am going.”
– John 8.14
If you do speak of yourself, does that automatically make it false? No, but the Law said that more than one witness was needed to establish the truth, and Jesus went on to say that He witnessed of Himself, and the Father witnessed of Him. Therefore, what Jesus said was the truth.
Questions:
- Do you believe the witness of Jesus?
