08.24.2019 – New Testament: 1Co 6.11
To read the Bible in a year, read First Corinthians 6 on August 24, In the year of our Lord 2019
By Don Ruhl
Members of the church in Corinth brought lawsuits against one another in the public courts. Paul shamed them for such actions. He wanted them to see that since they had converted out of the world, why then ask the world, which does not think the thoughts of God, to judge matters in the church? He reminded them that some of them had been fornicators, idolaters, adulterers, homosexuals, sodomites, thieves, covetous, drunkards, revilers, or extortioners, saying:
And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.
– 1 Corinthians 6.11
The Bible does not call it recovery, for they washed, sanctified, and justified from those sins.
Questions:
- What were you before your conversion?
- Do you see what you are now in Christ?
