New Testament: Matt 9.1–2
To read the Bible in a year, read Matthew 9.1–17 on January 10, In the year of our Lord Christ 2020
By Don Ruhl
Jesus went to His own city, and when He arrived there, some people brought a paralyzed man to Him.
So He got into a boat, crossed over, and came to His own city.
– Matthew 9.1
Seeing their faith, something wonderful happened next:
Then behold, they brought to Him a paralytic lying on a bed. When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, “Son, be of good cheer; your sins are forgiven you.”
– Matthew 9.2
Jesus did not heal the man’s body first, but his spirit, because Jesus is concerned with the spirit first, and sometimes only the spirit.
He is our Teacher and Lord. He is our Example. Therefore, what do you think should be our concern? Watch yourself today. Are you a person of the spirit or of the flesh?
- How often do you think of your spirit, that it needs to be more like Jesus?
- Do you show concern for people’s ailments?
