Old Testament: Exo 26.15–25
To read the Bible in a year, read Exodus 25–26 on January 31, In the year of our Lord Christ 2020
By Don Ruhl
What image do you have in your mind of the wilderness where Israel wandered? Do you see a brown, treeless landscape, devoid of all green? Now read this:
“And for the tabernacle you shall make the boards of acacia wood, standing upright…”
– Exodus 26.15–25
Where did Israel get the acacia wood? We know that they got their silver and gold from the Egyptians. Did Israel get the wood from the Egyptians also? Or did Israel get the wood in the wilderness? If so, perhaps we need to paint a new picture in our minds of what the wilderness was like.
Questions:
- Where do you get your ideas for the landscape of the Middle-East of thousands of years ago?
- What is acacia wood?
