New Testament: Matt 21.44
To read the Bible in a year, read Matthew 21.23–46 on February 1, In the year of our Lord Christ 2020
By Don Ruhl
Jesus spoke a parable, revealing how the Jewish leaders would reject Him and how they would suffer for it. He had spoken of Himself as the chief cornerstone in a building, and the leaders as the builders who reject that cornerstone. He ended by saying:
“And whoever falls on this stone will be broken; but on whomever it falls, it will grind him to powder.”
– Matthew 21.44
For the leaders, people who should have known who Jesus was, the consequences for rejecting Jesus were severe, because that rejection entailed them crucifying Him. Therefore, they would be broken and as though a huge stone had landed on them and ground them to powder.
