Old Testament: Jos 10.7–9
To read the Bible in a year, read Joshua 9–10 on March 23, In the year of our Lord Christ 2020
By Don Ruhl
Joshua knew that when the Lord says that something shall be, it shall be even as the Lord said that it would be. That is why he believed that the children of Israel could defeat the Canaanites, even when ten of the other spies did not believe. Four decades later, Joshua still believed that what God says shall be, it will indeed be:
So Joshua ascended from Gilgal, he and all the people of war with him, and all the mighty men of valor. And the LORD said to Joshua, “Do not fear them, for I have delivered them into your hand; not a man of them shall stand before you.” Joshua therefore came upon them suddenly, having marched all night from Gilgal.
– Joshua 10.7–9
The Lord had told Joshua to ascend to Gilgal and he did as he had been told. Then the Lord said not to fear Gilgal because none of the people there would be able to stand before Joshua and his army. Therefore, Joshua attacked Gilgal. It was just that simple.
Since Joshua believed and obeyed the Lord, the Lord gave him victory!
- Do you believe that if the Lord says it shall happen, it shall happen?
- Do you then simply believe and obey Him?
