New Testament: Luke 16.22–23
To read the Bible in a year, read Luke 16.19–31 on April 18, In the year of our Lord Christ 2020
By Don Ruhl
One man lived well but did not care for others. Another man only wanted crumbs. Then both died:
“So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried. And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.”
– Luke 16.22–23
The man who only wanted crumbs went to a place that the Bible pictures as being infinitely better than this world, a place where Lazarus would have much more than crumbs.
The other man who would not even give crumbs to the poor man, found himself in a place where he could not even get crumbs or a drop of water.
