Old Testament: 1Sa 25.24
To read the Bible in a year, read First Samuel 25–26 on April 18, In the year of our Lord Christ 2020
By Don Ruhl
David helped a man’s servants who took care of the man’s sheep. Then when David needed help, the man refused. This angered David and he decided to wipe out everything that the man had, but the wife of the man heard about David’s intentions and she went to meet him to plead with him to show mercy:
So she fell at his feet and said: “On me, my lord, on me let this iniquity be! And please let your maidservant speak in your ears, and hear the words of your maidservant.”
– 1 Samuel 25.24
What she did worked. She cooled down David’s anger and kept him from doing something awful, and he told her so.
There is a time to demand, and a time to plead with humility. Blessed is he who knows when the time is appropriate for each.
