Old Testament: 1Ki 6.36–38
To read the Bible in a year, read First Kings 6–7 on May 3, In the year of our Lord Christ 2020
By Don Ruhl
The writer of the Book of Kings made these notations about the completion of the temple of Solomon:
And he built the inner court with three rows of hewn stone and a row of cedar beams. In the fourth year the foundation of the house of the LORD was laid, in the month of Ziv. And in the eleventh year, in the month of Bul, which is the eighth month, the house was finished in all its details and according to all its plans. So he was seven years in building it.
– 1 Kings 6.36–38
Why am I not surprised to read that it took seven years to build the temple? I have another web site, SevensInTheBible.com (but I do not post there often), that shows how often seven appears in the Bible, although not every occurrence has significance, but many times it does, such as in the Book of Revelation. Seven appears there so often that if the Lord had asked me to give a name to that Book, I would have named it: The Book of Sevens.
- What was the name of the eighth month?
- In which month was the foundation laid?
