New Testament: John 12.32–33
To read the Bible in a year, read John 12.20–50 on June 1, In the year of our Lord 2020
By Don Ruhl
Jesus lived to glorify the Father. Therefore, on one occasion when Jesus made a request of the Father, the Father answered with a voice from heaven. Jesus explained that the voice came not for His sake, but for the sake of those listening to Him. Then He declared that the judgment of the world would be to cast out the ruler of the world, the devil. Jesus revealed how He would do that:
“And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself.” This He said, signifying by what death He would die.
– John 12.32–33
Jesus would defeat the devil and exalt the Father by means of a Roman cross, indicated by the reference to the lifting up of the body of Christ.
Questions:
- What are all the things that Jesus accomplished on the cross?
- Do you think on what Jesus experienced on the cross?
