New Testament: Acts 3.22–24
To read the Bible in a year, read Acts 3 on June 18, In the year of our Lord 2020
By Don Ruhl
The esteem that the nation of Israel put on Moses was beyond man’s ability to calculate. The Jews also knew that the Lord spoke through Moses and revealed that another prophet would come, and Peter announced to Jews in the first century that the prophet had arrived:
“For Moses truly said to the fathers, ‘The LORD your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brethren. Him you shall hear in all things, whatever He says to you. And it shall be that every soul who will not hear that Prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.’ Yes, and all the prophets, from Samuel and those who follow, as many as have spoken, have also foretold these days.”
– Acts 3.22–24
Moses had announced that another prophet would arise similar to him and the rest of the prophets gave more details on that prophet, and Peter declared that Jesus had fulfilled those prophecies, as is clear from the context.
- Just who is Jesus of Nazareth?
- What does it mean to you that Jesus chose you?
